When I was in Thailand, I had some amazing hotel stays. Some were like luxury resort hotels. Like the Kata Palm Resort in Phuket. The room was Thai style and luxurious. And there was a pool with a swim-up bar and water falls circling around a garden. That hotel would easily cost hundreds for a few days stay. We paid less than $40 a night! And that included a fantastic breakfast. All thanks to Agoda.
Speaking of discount rooms, once we booked the Royal Paradise Hotel in Phuket. It’s the tallest structure in the middle of town. Great everything. We booked a standard room through Agoda. But when we got there, they were out of standard rooms so they upgraded us to a deluxe. You wouldn’t believe the view from that gigantic balcony. And like I said, everything in that hotel was great. Here’s the kicker. We got one night free! Ended up spending an average of $27 a night!
Now I can hear you asking, “How in the world do you not only get rooms for less but even for free?” It’s Agoda Rewards. The first time you book through Agoda, you can sign up as a rewards member. And every time you make your hotel reservations through Agoda, you get reward points. They add up quickly and they get you discounts on already discounted rooms. And you can even get a free stay.

Agoda is an online travel company specializing in securing discount hotel prices around the world. “Vacations for less” doesn’t mean lower quality. It means you pay less for the same quality service that other travelers pay higher prices for. With Agoda you get a world-class hotel reservations service that combines local knowledge and local connections to bring you the best hotel deals.
It’s not just Thailand. You can have vacations for less no matter where you go. One time I had a teachers conference in the Philippines. All the other teachers got their hotels through the conference coordinators. (If you think they can really get you a discount, you’ve got another think coming.) Now I have to tell you that in Manila the hotels are not all that great compared to what I saw in Thailand – unless you stay in a real luxury resort hotel.
The other teachers I met complained about their hotels and the service, and I found out they were paying almost twice what I paid for my hotel. Here’s why I not only paid less, I also had no complaints: I spent time reading customers’ reviews at the Agoda site. Customers talked about the hotels in my price range, and I knew before I left exactly what to expect. And I got a pretty good deal.
At the Agoda website there is a description and a locator map for every hotel. And that helps a lot. The first time I went to Phnom Phen, Cambodia, I was pretty lost. But because I had booked the hotel through Agoda, I not only got a better hotel for less money, I had a little map that told me where I was.
Agoda specializes in Asia. But they also provide hotels for less all over the world. Recently they revamped their services in Europe to fit the culture there. Now you should be able to make advance reservations for European hotels – discounts, rewards, and all.
I personally have not had a chance to check out hotels in Europe or Australia. But if we ever do plan a trip there, we will definitely check out Agoda. Agoda also provides discount rooms in America. But to be honest, I think you can find better deals for American hotels. Still, it never hurts to check. If you’ve ever done comparison shopping for travel arrangements, you know that prices can vary by the hour.
I hope you’ll get as much enjoyment from your travels as I’ve gotten. Getting rooms for less is always a plus. Of all the travel resources I’ve used, Agoda is my absolute favorite when it comes to getting hotels for less. Get your hotels for less and book through Agoda.

Customer Comments
"This hotel was fabulous. Especially for the rate offered through Agoda. This hotel is owned by the 'Mandarin Orient'. All facets of the hotel were top notch. The rooms were spacious and elegantly designed. The bathroom was equally spacious, his & her sinks, a multi-head stand-up shower as well as a heated towel rack. The hotel is located down the street from the Lord Nelson Brewery and convenient to many locations, if you don't mind walking. I found the concierge service to be outstanding and very helpful. This may not seem important, but the concierge stored additional umbrellas in their area for rainy days. They offered us one to take with us as we were out and about on a somewhat less than perfect day. We experience a wonderful meal in the Observatory's restaurant. However, I would suggest a reservation for an evening sitting. " May, 2009. Book Now
"This is a stylish hotel, beautifully decorated with a great restaurant. Great service and concierge. I liked that it is in the rocks, just next to the Observatory, walking distance to the Bridge Climb, Opera house and many interesting restaurants, stores and bars, while simultaneously feeling "residential". I also liked that it is not part of a large chain, it is relatively small but not too small. Beautiful large rooms and bathrooms. Make sure to have breakfast and dinner at the hotel as the food is wonderful and the atmomphere elegant." December, 2008 Book Now

Hotwire Vs Priceline – “Which Has Rooms For Less?”
by Jerry Waxman
If you are traveling in the good ol’ U.S.A., you owe it to yourself – and those traveling with you – the opportunity to stay in a fine hotel for a lot less than the normal asking price. There are two excellent ways to do this, and they both have drawbacks. Do NOT let little drawbacks get in the way of having a great vacation. Use agents like Hotwire and/or Priceline for all their worth.
” for all their worth.”: That’s what this story is about, and it’s based on my own experience. So let me come right out and say it. Hotwire ROCKS Big Time!!, and you deserve what they can do for you. I’ll get into the pros and cons of Hotwire in a moment, but first let me say a few words about Priceline.

My experience with Priceline has not been great. But I’m going to suggest you check them out anyway, because:
- They’ve been around pretty long, so they must be doing right by a lot of people.
- The advantage they have over Hotwire is that you know what hotel you’re going to before you book it.
- They give you control over the booking process, including naming your own price.
- William Shatner cracks me up.
Priceline’s motto is “No one deals like we do!” The idea is that you find a hotel that meets your needs, and then you name the price you want to pay for it. If the hotel accepts your bid, Priceline makes the booking. In other words, you name the price.”

In this way, you can save quite a bit of money on hotels that you book through Priceline.
I’m sure there are thousands of people willing to tell you their experiences with Priceline were fabulous. For what it’s worth, mine weren’t. I’ve only used Priceline a couple times. And both times I found that I didn’t save anything.
In fact, a few months ago, I booked a room that was described as a suite with refrigerator and cooking facilities. The place turned out to be a mediocre motel that had a couple suites in it, but none available. A sign out front plainly advertised a “special” walk-in rate which turned out to be less than what I paid through Priceline.

The other time I used Priceline, it also was a mediocre motel, and I paid the exact same amount as walk-in customers paid.
Now, that’s my experience. But you shouldn’t let it stop you from using Priceline. Chances are good you’ll have a much better experience.. Click Here to Visit Priceline.

Hotwire! Do not miss out on this. Their slogan is “4 star hotels at 2 star prices.” And it’s true. For the same price I paid for those mediocre motels, above, I could’ve been staying in much better surroundings.
One time I wanted to take my better half to New York City. Man o man, the hotel rates there are high! I checked out all the discount hotel rates on the internet. The best I could find was a cheap room with semi-private bath for about $100 a night.

Then, I took a look at Hotwire to see if they had discount rooms or something. Their best rate was also about $100 a night. So my choice was, cheap room for $100 or Hotwire for $100. I took a chance with Hotwire.
The downside of Hotwire is that you don’t know what hotel they book you into until after you’ve already agreed to pay for it. And this can be scary to the traveler who likes complete control over what they spend money on. HOWEVER, do you want to know where Hotwire put us for our stay in New York City? Right smack dab in Times Square – walking distance to all the action.

And the hotel? Way 4-Star, no doubt about it. The room was immaculate. The bed had about a dozen pillows on it – with a couple chocolates every night. And the facilities all worked. And get this – the staff was courteous, polite, and respectful – and didn’t say anything about us walking in with backpacks when everyone else was wearing business suits.
I’ve used Hotwire quite a few times. Twice I was a little disappointed with the location; a little far from shops or food sources. But I have never been disappointed in the hotel. Hotwire has always sent us to superior hotels where we could experience a bit of high class. And that’s what I want you to experience; it’s the whole raison d’etre of this website.
For real good “rooms for less,” Click Here to check out Hotwire.
Hey, if you’ve ever used Priceline or Hotwire, or if you have any questions, why don’t you leave your comments below. It’ll really be appreciated. Thanks.
